What's it all about?
“I am an artist, a writer, a photographer and a gardener."
All of these elements are such a part of my life that it is only natural that they come through in my work. My love of nature and animals combined with my nostalgia for the fine craftsmanship of days gone by are my foundation. I provide cherished memories in my commissioned pet portraits and I strive to honor the fine craft of master designers and carvers in my paintings of vintage automobiles and carousel animals.
Wildlife and nature play an important role in my life. I am currently working on a series of paintings that bring the beauty of our natural world and its inhabitants to the viewer in a way that shows the strength and also the struggle that exists in our woodlands.”
Kiki Michalek has been an artist all of her life. Working in acrylic and watercolor, using an airbrush and traditional painting methods with mixed media, she is always exploring new materials and methods.
Michalek’s main subjects are animals, nature and vintage machinery and architecture. A seasoned professional, she has worked as a freelance artist for 40 years. Michalek works at her studio and in the field, researching subject matter for her wildlife series through her own photography and sketches at local sites. Her goal is to bring this series to life bringing awareness to wildlife habitat and the balance that is important to survival and conservation of our open space.
Michalek works on commission, painting pet portraits, automotive art, murals, refinishing furniture, statuary and more.
